국가경찰과 자치경찰의 조직 및 운영에 관한 법률 제23조(시ㆍ도자치경찰위원회 위원의 임기 및 신분보장)

① 시ㆍ도자치경찰위원회 위원장과 위원의 임기는 3년으로 하며, 연임할 수 없다.

② 보궐위원의 임기는 전임자 임기의 남은 기간으로 하되, 전임자의 남은 임기가 1년 미만인 경우 그 보궐위원은 제1항에도 불구하고 한 차례만 연임할 수 있다.

③ 위원은 중대한 신체상 또는 정신상의 장애로 직무를 수행할 수 없게 된 경우를 제외하고는 그 의사에 반하여 면직되지 아니한다.
