민사집행법 제1조(목적)

이 법은 강제집행, 담보권 실행을 위한 경매, 민법ㆍ상법, 그 밖의 법률의 규정에 의한 경매(이하 "민사집행"이라 한다) 및 보전처분의 절차를 규정함을 목적으로 한다.
