여권법 제23조의2(여권정보연계시스템의 구축ㆍ운영 등)

① 외교부장관은 여권이 국내에서 신분증명서로 활용될 수 있도록 여권번호를 바탕으로 한 여권의 진위 여부 확인 및 여권 명의인의 신원 확인에 필요한 정보시스템(이하 "여권정보연계시스템"이라 한다)을 구축ㆍ운영하여야 한다.

② 외교부장관은 여권의 진위 여부에 대한 확인요청이 있는 경우 여권정보연계시스템을 이용하여 그 진위를 확인하여 줄 수 있다.

③ 외교부장관은 여권 명의인의 신원 확인에 필요한 정보 제공의 요청이 있는 경우 여권정보연계시스템을 이용하여 그 신원 확인에 필요한 정보를 제공하여 줄 수 있다. 다만, 여권정보연계시스템을 통한 정보 제공이 어려운 경우에는 신원 확인에 필요한 정보를 기재한 증명서를 발급할 수 있다.

④ 제1항에 따른 여권정보연계시스템의 구축ㆍ운영, 제2항에 따른 여권의 진위 여부 확인 및 제3항에 따른 여권 명의인의 신원 확인에 필요한 정보의 제공과 증명서의 발급에 필요한 사항은 대통령령으로 정한다.
