자동차관리법 제35조의3(저속전기자동차의 운행구역 지정 등)

① 시장ㆍ군수ㆍ구청장은 직접 또는 저속전기자동차를 운행하려는 자의 신청에 따라 최고속도가 시속 60킬로미터 이하인 도로 중에서 교통안전 및 교통흐름 등을 고려하여 관할 경찰서장과 협의한 후 저속전기자동차의 운행구역(이하 "운행구역"이라 한다)을 지정하거나 변경 또는 해제할 수 있다. 다만, 저속전기자동차의 진행방향을 고려하여 최고속도가 시속 60킬로미터 초과인 도로를 통과하지 아니하고는 통행이 불가능한 구간이 생긴다고 인정되는 경우에는 최고속도가 시속 80킬로미터 이하인 도로 중 해당 단절구간 통행에 필요한 최단거리에 한정하여 운행구역으로 지정할 수 있다. <개정 2015.8.11>

② 저속전기자동차는 운행구역 외의 도로에서 운행하지 못한다. 다만, 저속전기자동차의 점검ㆍ검사 등 국토교통부령으로 정하는 경우에는 시장ㆍ군수ㆍ구청장의 허가를 받아 운행할 수 있다. <개정 2013.3.23>
