국가경찰과 자치경찰의 조직 및 운영에 관한 법률 제17조(하부조직)

① 경찰청의 하부조직은 본부ㆍ국ㆍ부 또는 과로 한다.

② 경찰청장ㆍ차장ㆍ국가수사본부장ㆍ국장 또는 부장 밑에 정책의 기획이나 계획의 입안 및 연구ㆍ조사를 통하여 그를 직접 보좌하는 담당관을 둘 수 있다.

③ 경찰청의 하부조직의 명칭 및 분장 사무와 공무원의 정원은 「정부조직법」 제2조제4항 및 제5항을 준용하여 대통령령 또는 행정안전부령으로 정한다.
