호스피스ㆍ완화의료 및 임종과정에 있는 환자의 연명의료결정에 관한 법률 제3조(기본 원칙)

① 호스피스와 연명의료 및 연명의료중단등결정에 관한 모든 행위는 환자의 인간으로서의 존엄과 가치를 침해하여서는 아니 된다.

② 모든 환자는 최선의 치료를 받으며, 자신이 앓고 있는 상병(傷病)의 상태와 예후 및 향후 본인에게 시행될 의료행위에 대하여 분명히 알고 스스로 결정할 권리가 있다.

③ 「의료법」에 따른 의료인(이하 "의료인"이라 한다)은 환자에게 최선의 치료를 제공하고, 호스피스와 연명의료 및 연명의료중단등결정에 관하여 정확하고 자세하게 설명하며, 그에 따른 환자의 결정을 존중하여야 한다.
