위치정보의 보호 및 이용 등에 관한 법률 제5조(개인위치정보를 대상으로 하는 위치정보사업의 등록 등)

① 개인위치정보를 대상으로 하는 위치정보사업을 하려는 자는 상호, 주된 사무소의 소재지, 위치정보사업의 종류 및 내용, 위치정보시스템을 포함한 사업용 주요 설비 등에 대하여 다음 각 호의 사항을 갖추어 방송미디어통신위원회에 등록하여야 한다. <개정 2025.10.1>

② 제1항에 따라 위치정보사업의 등록을 한 자(이하 "개인위치정보사업자"라 한다)가 등록한 사항 중 위치정보시스템에 관한 사항을 변경하려는 경우에는 방송미디어통신위원회에 변경등록을 하여야 하고, 상호 또는 주된 사무소의 소재지를 변경하려는 경우에는 방송미디어통신위원회에 변경신고를 하여야 한다. <개정 2025.10.1>

③ 방송미디어통신위원회는 제1항에 따른 등록 또는 제2항에 따른 변경등록의 신청을 받은 경우에는 등록요건을 충족하는지를 심사하여 신청내용이 적합하다고 인정되면 등록증을 교부하여야 한다. <개정 2025.10.1>

(3) Upon어판 receiving^r러시^v빙 an앤 application애플러케이션 for^f포 registration^r레지스트^r레이션 under언더 paragraph패^r러그^r래^f프 (1) or오 for^f포 registration^r레지스트^r레이션 of어^v브 a어 change체인지 under언더 paragraph패^r러그^r래^f프 (2), the^ð더 Broadcasting,브^r로드캐스팅 Media미디아 and앤드 Communications커뮤너케이션즈 Commission커미션 shall섈 examine이그재민 whether웨^ð더 the^ð더 registration^r레지스트^r레이션 requirements^r리콰이어먼츠 are아 met멧 and,앤드 if이^f프 it잇 finds^f파인즈 the^ð디 application애플러케이션 appropriate,어프^r로우프^r리엇 shall섈 issue이슈 a어 certificate서티^f피컷 of어^v브 registration.^r레지스트^r레이션

④ 방송미디어통신위원회는 제3항에 따른 심사를 위하여 필요한 자료의 제출을 요청할 수 있다. <개정 2025.10.1>

(4) The^ð더 Broadcasting,브^r로드캐스팅 Media미디아 and앤드 Communications커뮤너케이션즈 Commission커미션 may메이 request^r리퀘스트 the^ð더 submission서브미션 of어^v브 materials머티^r리얼즈 necessary네서세^r리 for^f포 the^ð디 examination이그재머네이션 under언더 paragraph패^r러그^r래^f프 (3).

⑤ 방송미디어통신위원회는 제1항에 따라 등록을 받는 경우에는 대통령령으로 정하는 바에 따라 위치정보의 정확성ㆍ신뢰성 제고, 공정경쟁 또는 개인위치정보의 보호를 위한 연구ㆍ개발을 위하여 필요한 조건을 붙일 수 있다. <개정 2025.10.1>

⑥ 제1항부터 제5항까지의 규정에 따른 등록ㆍ변경등록ㆍ변경신고의 방법ㆍ절차, 등록ㆍ변경등록의 심사 및 그 밖에 필요한 사항은 대통령령으로 정한다.
